The Rapidfire has more keys, more options

I needed a keyboard with all the keys included like navigation/editing keys and a numeric keypad. I rely heavily on the keys located on the right side of the keyboard because although I’m right-handed, I actually hold the mouse with my left hand. Those absolutely crucial keys that I rely on are included on the Corsair K70 Rapidfire Mechanical Keyboard, whereas some models/brands like DREVO, Redragon, and some Logitech models I looked at did not have all the keys included. The Corsair K70 also has some relatively minor features that I discovered I liked from my experience on my earliest gaming keyboard (Saitek Eclipse). Like the old Saitek that I loved, the K70 has a detachable wrist rest with the option to adjust the angle of the keyboard if I want to. The K70 has a total of 4 foldable legs on the bottom of the keyboard, 2 front and 2 back that can be raised or lowered independently.

When it’s time to game, I switch out my stealthy Logitech workhorse for the Rapidfire

My only complaint with mechanicals, in general, is the noise factor when pressing keys. The K70 Rapidfire is no exception in this regard. But, I was able to dampen the sound using o-rings and I’m happy with the result. PC Gamer has a good article in case you want to read the pros and cons of ‘silent’ mechanical keyboard switches.

My Logitech wireless keyboard is not mechanical or designed for gaming, but it’s the best wireless PC keyboard I have ever owned for work because it’s super quiet and typing feels satisfying, comparable or better than Apple keyboards. As you might expect, my steadfast companion for the office completely fails to excel in PC gaming, particularly within my favorite online FPS games like Battlefield (series), Rust, Mordhau, and Escape from Tarkov. It doesn’t measure up because the keys aren’t the same type of responsive switches found in top quality mechanical gaming keyboards. In the end, it’s all about choosing the best tool for the task. So I end up switching back and forth from my work keyboard and the Rapidfire as needed.

I didn’t set out to purchase a mechanical keyboard based on animated lighting effects. I chose the K70 Rapidfire to provide an advantage in gaming. That said, I cannot ignore the fact that red LED animated lighting effects look amazing and exceed expectations. Note: If lighting is your thing, you may also consider the Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 for a spectrum of color but at a slightly higher price.

Corsair iCUE software also allows you to customize lighting effects for static color, solid, gradient, ripple, and wave (custom effects are not shown here). I highly recommend The Corsair K70 Rapidfire Mechanical Keyboard Red LED. At the time of this review, the K70 Rapidfire Mechanical Gaming Keyboard was still the fastest PC mechanical gaming keyboard for the price that I could find. I’m very happy with this purchase because the Rapidfire has significantly improved my PC gaming experience.
