Remote desktop vs TeamViewer Reddit

AnyDesk vs TeamViewer vs inbuilt Windows 10 1809 Remote Desktop Shadowing from sysadmin

Good day!

We have used teamviewer for some years for remote-support [Not unattended].

We among others [according to r/teamviewer] experienced issues regarding stability and features the last couple of years and we are looking for potential alternatives.

The essential thing we need is the ability to let end-user download a file and hand us an ID generated password [I have also seen solutions that let them type a code into the browser and start a session that way?]

The keyword here has to be simple for the end-users.

We rarely use unattended access so this is not necessary.

We would like to pay similar or less than teamviewer and we are only 1-2 simultaneous connections in worst cases.

We have a bunch of elderly customers as well so we need it as simple as possible.

Does anyone have any experience with the alternatives?

Thanks!

Teamviewer has been steadily creeping up with pricing and is currently a bit too expensive for our taste. A client recently started working with RemotePC - are any of you using this software for remote support?

Hey,

So, I've been searching for TeamViewer alternatives and the only one that seems to be on par is AnyDesk.

I've already read some posts here about it and that didn't really tip the scales. I also gave it a try at home [free for personal use just like TeamViewer is a big plus but that's just personal] and it seems to hog the CPU a lot less, which is nice if you're remoting to ancient machines..

But what are the experiences here? Do any of you use it? Liked it? hated it? I could ask at r/anydesk but they're probably a bit biased.. Anyone [happily?] using something else than TeamViewer or AnyDesk?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Any good open-source remote access software similar to Team Viewer or Chrome Remote Desktop? from opensource

I personally find teamviewer's license ridiculous; only allow one session at any moment. Is there any other service that's more small business friendly than teamviewer?

Looking for recommendations for Remote access software for employees.

What I've tested and thoughts:

Teamviewer-fastest, but too expensive for 3 employees

RemotePC-Cheapest, slower than teamviewer, but more consistant than splashtop

Splashtop-middle ground, faster than RemotePC, slower than teamviewer, but gets laggy at odd times. Oddly my least favorite.

Anything else to throw in the mix? The employees are doing data entry into quickbooks desktop, so it's nothing crazy, but latency can be annoying typing numbers. Windows environment.

As a secondary FYI, the link for "Remote Desktop Service" under Windows is broken in the wiki for r/sysadmin

I know everyone will have their own favorites, but I'm looking for simple speed and security.

So I guess AnyDesk changed their plans [for the worse] and TeamViewer is the same awfulness as usual; despite having maybe the most robust software. ConnectWise so far has been nice but the iOS app is horrible and I still feel like the pricing is high.

So... anyone.... someone? Please help me out here. This is getting ridiculous. Really would rather not have to play the firewall and IP game either btw, as some devices are moved between networks.

What remote control/access/desktop software do you use or recommend, and how has your experience been?

We would primarily be using it for unattended access or remote support on preconfigured devices. These are shared desktop devices. We don't need a quick simple way for end users to install, we need a reliable way to keep the system monitored and accessible.

Thanks so much to anyone who even offers suggestions; it's been a pain trying to sort through all the outdated threads and complex pricing and "contact us" quotes.

Edit: thanks so much for the suggestions everyone! nice to see such a response!

Sorry if wrong community.

My job has us use a Remote Desktop, and make it impossible to use a regular desktop with laptops [no word, excel, etc.] but have teamviewer as well. Does Remote Desktop actually add any benefit? I would have to connect via VPN software before using the Remote Desktop anyways? Just curious if it is a valid reason, or if there are other valid reasons for this since the Remote Desktop is egregiously slow at times
