1. Cách dùng
- Trong giao tiếp thân mật, I bet [you]... có thể để diễn đạt ý "tôi đoán rằng, tôi cá rằng". Chúng ta có thể không cần dùng that trong cụm trên. Ví dụ:
I bet [you] she's not at home. [Tớ đoán/Tớ cá với cậu là cô ấy không có ở nhà đâu.]
ÍT DÙNG: I bet [you] that she's not at home.
- Cũng có thể dùng I'll bet... Ví dụ:
I'll bet you she's not at home. [Tớ cá với cậu là cô ấy không có ở nhà đâu.]
2. Thì trong câu có chứa bet
Sau I bet [you]... chúng ta thường dùng thì hiện tại khi đề cập đến hành động trong tương lai. Ví dụ:
I bet [you] they don't come this evening. [Tớ cá với cậu là tối nay họ sẽ không đến đâu.]
I bet [you] the Conservatives [will] lose. [Tớ cá với cậu là đảng Bảo Thủ sẽ không thắng cử.]
3. Khi câu có 2 tân ngữ
Khi nói về các cuộc cá độ thực sự, sau bet có thể có 2 tân ngữ: người được cá và số tiền hoặc vật được đưa ra cá cược. Ví dụ:
