Desktop icons rearrange after connecting to monitor

My Windows 10 tablet has connected with a second monitor with HDMI through DVI port. The primary desktop is used for working and the main shortcuts of apps and programs are putted over there. After the recent version 1803 updates, those icons keep moving to the secondary display. I move them back, uncheck the auto arrange and then unplug and plug the cable again, but those icons also default to the secondary one with doing screen refresh or upon rebooting. How can I resolve the problem?

Lots of users can not control what icon goes on which desktop in Windows 10 with multiple monitors connected. It is strange that those items keep moving to the secondary desktop. It seems to be bug or something wrong with the Settings app.

The Windows keyboard shortcuts with a mouse may causes the issue. The combinations of Ctrl + mouse scroll wheel provide an alternative way to change the size and appearance of file and folder icons. When you are on the desktop, doing a press with the Ctrl key while scroll up will move all icons of current desktop to the other screen. To get them restoring, simply hold the Ctrl and scroll back.

If the Desktop icons still move to another screen, try any of the tips to fix the issue.
* On your on primary screen, right click on empty area on the desktop, choose View option, then toggle between Large icons and Small icons. It requires that two monitors are configured to the same screen resolution.

Quick way
* Right click on taskbar, check Show task view, and select show windows side by side. Then do Ctrl+A key and drag them to the main screen.

A weird solution
* Press Ctrl + A from your keyboard to select all icons first.
* Move the mouse cursor onto any of icons, hold it down and drag them to the main desktop. This method will make icons to lose a certain amount of sorting, but works in Windows 10 immediately.
* You can also create a New Folder on the desired desktop, cut and paste all related icons into such folder. Then move them outside and the icons should be stay there.

Align the Monitors side by side
* Make sure the main monitor has putted all icon and is assigned to regardless of the number like Monitor 2 or 3 in the Settings app.
* Under Taskbar Settings, turn Multiple Displays the Show taskbar on all displays off.
* In Displays setup, drag the primary Monitor to the far left and rearrange them. Finally icons will be only arranged on this one.
