My pin number no longer works & my dvd player stopped working earlier. I would consider a factory reset, but the alt F10 does not respond. This is an Acer Aspire E 15 laptop.

You should be able to switch to 'full' password opposed to the 4 digit pin, and hopefully that works for you.
If not, contacting the manufacturer [Acer] is going to be your best option.
Beyond that, we can;t help you bypass passwords etc - as we've no way of knowing that you're the rightful owner.

Another option if your dvd player don't work is to use an external DVD player or a bootable USB.
