What Apple products are coming out in 2024?

Any given year, there are a variety of different rumors swirling around at any given time regarding upcoming products from Apple. But this year, and especially right now, it certainly feels like the rumor mill is bursting at the seams regarding devices the company is working on. Especially in the laptop category.

What Apple products are coming out in 2024?

Another day, another Super Tweet from Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young. This time around, he’s talking about not just a brand new MacBook coming down the pipe, but also a brand new iPad Pro model. Interestingly, these two devices will have a couple of different things in common: display technology and release date.

According to Young, Apple is working on a brand new MacBook Air and an iPad Pro that will boast OLED display panels. The new products will also reportedly see the light of day in 2024. But, since nothing is officially official just yet, there is still some time for things to change.

Specifically, while Young says the upcoming laptop with a 13-inch OLED display is likely going to be a MacBook Air, that might not remain the case by the time the device launches. So, it’s possible Apple could change the product branding by the time the company is ready to launch the device to the public.

As for the iPad Pro models, Young says Apple will introduce both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models with OLED panels in the same year.

In a subsequent tweet, Young goes on to say that all three products will adopt a two-stack tandem structure for the OLED displays, which boasts two red, green, and blue emission layers. This means the displays will be brighter, but also consume less power. And the new displays will also feature LTPO technology for variable refresh rates, which can range between 1Hz to 120Hz. Which means the upcoming devices should promote ProMotion as well.

Apple’s path to OLED is relatively smooth, all things considered, but it’s not simply jumping from LCD to OLED. No, instead, Apple is using mini-LED to bridge the gap, so to speak. Apple already has a mini-LED display in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and it also introduced mini-LED display tech in its 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models as well.

So, Apple’s first MacBook and iPad Pro with OLED display technology might launch in 2024. If that is the case, will you be one of the first customers to pick one up?

Apple might launch a new MacBook and iPad Pro models with an OLED display in 2024, suggests Ross Young, an analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants. Young suggests that the MacBook launching in 2024 would be the MacBook Pro. Meanwhile, iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch models are expected to come with an OLED display alongside the new MacBook in 2024.
“It is looking increasingly likely that Apple will launch a 13.3” OLED notebook in 2024 in addition to the 11” OLED and 12.9” iPad Pros. It is expected to be a MacBook Air, but could potentially become a MacBook, MacBook Pro or new category,” said Young in a tweet to his followers.
In another tweet, Young suggested that the OLED display in the three upcoming products would use the two-stack tandem structure, which allows for increased brightness and better efficiency. Furthermore, the OLED displays would have LTPO technology, which means that the display would support variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. Apple calls it ProMotion, and it has been present in all the iPad Pro models since 2017, and even the new MacBook Pro 15-inch and 17-inch comes with ProMotion.
For now, Apple seems to be focusing on transitioning its Mac and iPad lineup to miniLED displays. Moving forward, OLED will be the next big feature for Macs and iPads, starting with the new MacBook and iPad Pros expected to come out in 2024.

Apple Airpods and Mac accessories rumoured to feature the USB Type-C by 2024: Report

What Apple products are coming out in 2024?

Apple tracker, Mark Gurman in his latest report has mentioned all three AirPods and Mac accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad may transition to USB-C by 2024.

The gradual shift of Apple's products to USB-C from Lightning ports could see a switch of connectors on all Airpods and Mac accessories by 2024, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The shift from Lightning ports has been necessitated by the European Union’s new directive which is looking to mandate USB-C charging on new smartphones, tablets, and headphones released in the region after 2024.

Earlier this week, the European Parliament approved the new directive which will force manufacturers to offer USB-C as a common charging port across a wide range of devices by the end of 2024. In his latest ‘Power On’ newsletter, Mark Gurman mentions that Apple has been preparing to make changes to its devices to meet the new European legal requirements.

Apple technically doesn’t need to comply with the EU’s upcoming law until 2025, as a two-year grace period is expected to be given to companies to make the transition to USB-C.

However, according to Gurman, Apple will still beat the legislation's date of application in late 2024 with most of its products. The iPhone 15 is expected to beat the EU's mandate by a year, featuring a USB-C port in the fall of 2023. While the entry-level iPad, which is the only ‌iPad‌ to feature a Lightning connector, is expected to switch to USB-C by the end of this year.

As per the report, Apple might bring USB-C to the next-gen AirPods (2nd generation), AirPods Pro, and AirPods (3rd generation) by 2024. The Mac accessories, including the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad could also make the switch to USB-C as soon as next year.

Gurman believes the switch to USB-C will be across Apple's family of products. However, he believes that the USB-C era will be shorter than the tenure of the 30-pin iPod connector or Lightning, especially for Apple's mobile devices.
