2023 Kia Sportage problems Reddit

I got a Kia Sportage x line limited in Canada. Its been a 8 days since I got it and I had to go to the service Centre twice due to a check engine light pop up.
Error p2422 - Evaporative Emissions Control System [EVAP] Vent Valve Stuck Closed
Unfortunately they said the part is on back order and it takes 4 weeks for it to arrive. They said it was safe to drive unless it stutters. Just wanted to check if its a big issue down the line as the service center doesn't give me more info

Hi everyone,

I leased on July an Hybrid version of the Sportage and me and my girlfriend noticed a sound coming from the engine that wasn't there when we first drove it. We noticed the sound 2 weeks ago and now the car has 4000km.

When accelerating and the car is about to change gear, we can hear a rattling coming from the engine. I tried to reproduce it and I found a way to do so. With the paddle shift, I put it in 1st gear and I go around 3000rpm and we can easily hear the rattling sound. We can also hear it in 2nd and 3rd gear.

I went to the Kia's dealership and I showed them the issue. The mechano easily heard the problem and went into the garage to do more trouble shooting. I waited 30 minutes and they told me that the cylinder 3 of the motor was prematurely scoring. They took photos of the problem and they sent it to Kia Motors.

After that, because it's a new model and Kia Motors doesn't consider it like a problem [because there is no history of that], the dealership told me that I would have to live with it without compensation and that they will follow the evolution of the problem during maintenance.

We should have a response from Kia Motors "soon" about that problem.

I will put a video of the sound in the following days.

Update 1

Hey guys. I just posted a few days ago about my brand new sportage. Welp… I noticed a couple times that it felt a little weird and now I have a check engine light and a warning message telling me to have my transmission system inspected. I am super upset, this was a pretty big splurge for me and I’ve been wanting a sportage for years and it just never worked out until now. Barely a week into having it and with 615 miles on it, I have a $36k paper weight in my garage, as it won’t go above about 25 mph. Yes it’s under warranty but this is extremely concerning to me. What’s going to pop up when I hit 5k miles? 10k?

Part of me is feeling a deep sense of regret and I wish I would have kept my seltos. 😔

My fiancé doesn’t think it’s the actual transmission, but something with the computer. Either way, I am super bummed. Has anyone else had any issues? I have the Prestige.

Well the car just came out so most problems won’t be seen for a bit.

Normally I don’t buy the first year of a redesigning, but since most of the components from the sportage 2023 are actually found within other models of the Kia line up… I went for it.

Car drives great, but my radio’s connection is awful all static… will have to bring that into the dealership.

Planning on buying the Sportage EX hybrid because I’ve been looking at hybrid vehicles and this seems to be the best one for the price

But what are the major cons of this vehicle [if it helps I’m looking at the 2022 Honda CR-V hybrid and 2022 Hyundai Tuscan hybrid]

I’m leaning towards the Kia because the infotainment system seems to be the best and I seem to get the most features based on the price

So again, any major cons for this vehicle I should know about?
